CONCORD \u2013\u00a0Crimson Tide head coach Kate Billings could exhale. She\u2019d\u00a0just watched her team nearly blow a 4-1 third period lead but hang on for a 4-3 win over Kingswood-Prospect Mountain (4-8)\u00a0on Wednesday night for Concord\u2019s third consecutive victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Freshman forward Gracen Arndt scored two goals and tallied two assists; junior forward Evianna Raimo\u00a0added the other two goals, while sophomore forward Elliana Wing had two assists. But it was the play of junior goalie\u00a0Kaylee\u00a0DelloIacono that stood out most notably, allowing\u00a0Concord (5-4) to walk away victorious.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe made huge saves, especially at the end,\u201d Billings said of DelloIacono. \u201cShe\u2019s come a really long way from the beginning of the season to now to where she\u2019s moving well across the crease and able to take their shots square. It\u2019s been huge for us. She\u2019s kept us in many games.\u201d<\/p>\n

DelloIacono stopped 18 of the 21 shots she faced, including several saves in the final five minutes when Kingswood-Prospect Mountain had sustained offensive pressure. Billings credited her assistant coach,\u00a0Andrew Proulx, for his work helping DelloIacono\u00a0grow throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Wednesday marked the Tide\u2019s third straight win, the first winning streak the team\u2019s put together all season after starting 2-4. Even with\u00a0freshman defenseman Caroline Fortin and sophomore forward\u00a0Hailey\u00a0Pinette having missed the last couple games, Billings noted how other players have stepped up in their absence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re working hard,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cThey stepped up for each other and were able to get the job done. It\u2019s great to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

In particular, the line featuring Arndt, Raimo and Wing consistently had the Knightwolves on their heels.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat line was working so well together that they were able to pin Kingswood into the zone and able to work the puck around very quickly, and they just kind of found some magic and got the puck in the net,\u201d Billings said. \u201cProud of Evianna because she doesn\u2019t score many goals, but she got two tonight which was huge for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the calendar flips to February, the Tide still have half of its regular season schedule remaining. After a rough patch to start the year, Concord seems to have found more consistency\u00a0that Billings hopes continues as the younger team gains more experience and returns players from injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce we get them back and we can get everyone back together on a normal rhythm, then we\u2019ll hopefully just settle in and play some of the top teams really well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Tide (5-4-0) return to action on Saturday when it takes on Hanover (7-3-1) on the road.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
