The Winni Players Community Theatre\u2019s tradition of presenting radio plays live on stage continues Feb. 22 ot 25 with \u201cThe Sherlock Mystery Radio Hour.\u201d Audiences will visit the world of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in an event that Playhouse Artistic Director Timothy L\u2019Ecuyer describes as, \u201can evening filled with suspense, deduction, and intrigue.\u201d The Sherlock Mystery Radio Hour includes two radio-play adventures featuring the great detective himself: \u201cThe Case of the Haunted Chateau\u201d and \u201cThe Case of the Iron Box.\u201d<\/p>\n

L\u2019Ecuyer says that attending a live radio play is, \u201ca bit like two simultaneous theatre experiences.\u201d Audiences at this unique event get to watch as the actors produce a radio play before their eyes, complete with live foley sound effects, but also get to put themselves into the shoes of the listeners at home. They will, L\u2019Ecuyer says, \u201cget to travel back in time to an era when radio was king.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cast of The Sherlock Mystery Radio Hour is made up of local performers, some of whom are brand new to the Winni Players Community Theatre and some, like Jennifer Simon, who have been involved with the Winnipesaukee Playhouse for its entire two-decade existence. Simon was in the very first Winni Players production, Arthur Miller\u2019s \u201cThe Crucible,\u201d 20 years ago. Since then, she has contributed to the theatre in multiple ways: as a stage manager for the Education Department, as a member of the box office staff, and most recently returning to the stage as a performer in \u201cMiracle on 34th Street.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Sherlock Mystery Radio Hour is directed by radio play veterans Debbi Finkelstein and Sam Ducharme. Performances are Feb. 22 to 24 at 7:30 and Feb. 25\u00a0at 2 p.m. Tickets and additional information can be found at winnipesaukeeplayhouse.org or by calling 603-279-0333.
