A Maine man is facing up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine after prosecutors say he laced a batch of coffee-Oreo flavored ice cream with the active ingredient in marijuana that was served to unsuspecting customers.<\/p>\n

Marc Flore, 43, was indicted on one count of tampering with consumer products, according First Assistant United States Attorney Jay McCormack announces.<\/p>\n

Flore is accused of\u00a0adding tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is considered a\u00a0schedule I controlled drug by the federal government,\u00a0to Oreo ice cream that was stored with other batches of ice cream in a freezer at the Roots Caf\u00e9 in Newmarket. The ice cream was then sold to public consumers, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

The charge of tampering with consumer products provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.<\/p>\n

The Food and Drug Administration Office of Criminal Investigations led the investigation with assistance from the Newmarket Police Department, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
