Even though the petition ultimately failed, that level of support is a hopeful sign in that so many recognize the river corridor as a living system of complex interconnectivity requiring protection from destructive development. \u201cDue to an ill-considered exploitation of nature, humanity runs the risk of destroying it and becoming in turn a victim of this degradation,\u201d Laudato Si\u2019<\/p>\n
