The current school board members had better consider giving up their day jobs, because they have plenty of work to do. The first job is to have the personal and collective will to finalize the budget at a less than 2 and 1/2% increase. Don’t accept the budget from “upstairs” as characterized and presented from the superintendent. Secondly, continue the talks with the city side about Memorial Field and reveal the costs responsible from the school side. Thirdly, brace yourselves for continued events from the Concerned Concord Citizens.

At the moment four of the current board members may be worrying about their re-election possibilities and their legacy which includes (but is not limited to) the following: destruction of 17 acres of trees, several decades of high property taxes to come, and the marked changes to or elimination of the unique autonomy and trust enjoyed by school board members over many years.
