Hopkinton voters sent a majority vote to the school board on 3/9 that we want SB2. Unfortunately we didn’t meet the threshold of 3/5 required by law. Then, Tuesday, we had an extraordinary showing of voters voicing their opinion of dissatisfaction with the status quo. There was an unprecedented amount of write in names or options left “blank” on the choices available on the ballot. Hopkinton stakeholders are engaging, and will continue to engage.
The upcoming annual town meeting, 3/21, 6 p.m., at the high school gym, is when SB2 will be first on the docket for the community to vote on. It has to pass with a 3/5 majority. We had a 52% majority at the annual school meeting, missing the threshold by 46 votes. My prayer is those missing 46 will come and bring another stakeholder with them. Will the boards recognize the communities dissatisfaction and make the changes necessary to regain their trust?
