The salient point about “no SB2” is that it is simply undemocratic. No presence at the meeting means no voice in the process. Every anti-argument regarding the “no SB2” point of view is simply derivative of that fact and is logically irrelevant if concern for democracy is even a miniscule factor. Why not rent a fleet of Concord Coaches with teams of six white horses to personally pick up town residents and bring them to the meeting?

We would then know that we live in the bygone era when Black men were three-fifths human and women could not vote. These archaic and romantic ideas about town meeting fall apart entirely with this singular realization: if you’re not present at the meeting, you don’t count and we don’t care that you don’t count because we like our traditions best of all. Taxes are due on July 1 period.
