Two comments on the recent article about freedom accounts: The first is that public school districts are audited on a regular basis. An additional thought is that the same people fighting to keep from getting information on freedom accounts would object strongly if public schools requested to be exempt from audits.
The second is that it seems reasonable to assume that if our state was not ranked so low in regard to aid to education (some sources rate us as dead last, others as high as 48th), there might be less need of freedom accounts.. If public schools were well supported by the state, and by our own Department of Ed, they could better address the needs of our students.
